Why Mysterium VPN Is the Best VPN for Sora
Mysterium VPN is best for video and image generation if you need a stable, privacy-focused connection. Video and image-generating services like Sora tend to be restricted to certain countries, so our residential IPs help you access the services when your location changes.
- Residential IPs: Traffic routed through residential IPs is less likely to blend in with other local household users, so you’re far less likely to get blocked.
- Wide North American coverage: We offer hundreds of U.S. locations and Canada server locations, so you can choose a server for better speed.
- Built for privacy: Mysterium VPN is built to prioritize your privacy. Our end-to-end encryption, kill switch, and no-logs design actively protect you while you’re online.
- Reliable performance for content generation: High-speed VPN servers in many cities support seamless content creation and upload workflows.
Whether you’re generating images, videos, marketing copy, or other content, Mysterium VPN ensures your workflow is smooth and uninterrupted.

What Is Sora?
Sora is an AI video-generation app created by OpenAI (also the creators of ChatGPT) that generates relatively high-quality video from text prompts. The company first unveiled Sora in 2024, which alarmed many in the entertainment industry over concerns about displacing human creators.
A second-generation model launched in September 2025 with improved quality, audio capabilities, and more accurate physics, which led to intense blowback from Hollywood.
OpenAI announced in March 2026 that it was shutting down Sora just six months after it was launched. The closure comes as OpenAI faces pressure from its rival Anthropic (the creator of Claude) and ahead of an expected initial public offering, with the company shifting focus to resources for text and code generation instead.
On April 26th, 2024, the Sora website and app were discontinued, and the Sora API will be discontinued on September 24th, 2026. OpenAI recommends exporting all of your data and generated content as soon as possible on a dedicated website.

Can I Use a Free VPN To Access Sora?
While free VPNs may seem appealing, they typically lack the reliability and safeguards needed for smooth, secure access to advanced AI generation tools like Sora.
Free services often share limited server infrastructure among thousands of users, creating congestion, instability, and frequent connection errors. They also pose risks to privacy and device security due to minimal oversight and unclear data practices.
- Restricted regional coverage, with few or no North American servers, where these services tend to be most readily available.
- Overcrowded servers and ISP throttling are causing slow speeds and timeouts.
- Frequent disconnections or dropped sessions disrupt your workflow.
- Shared or publicly listed IPs, which either trigger security checks or block access.
- Intrusive advertising models or data monetization practices.
- Weak encryption standards may expose sensitive traffic.
- No dedicated customer support when you encounter issues or need technical help.
For dependable performance, security, and privacy, Mysterium VPN remains the safest and most transparent option.
